And I'm back! A new computer is really helping my creative process, and my ability to blog about it!

So, the c2c blanket project was a success! I finished it on time (even if I did have to stay up until 2 in the morning the night before the Baptism. But it got done, so that's what matters, right?

The entire process took a lot longer than I had anticipated. It was really tedious going back and weaving in all the ends because there were so many of them. But it was rewarding at the same time because then I got a better idea of what the blanket was going to look like. It was really awesome when I finally got to the bow and got a sense of the big picture.

When I finally crossed off the last square on the chart I breathed a sigh of relief. But I also was a little unsure of the next step. I knew I wanted to give it a nice edging, but I wasn't sure how I wanted to do it. I ran through all the different possibilities and combinations of colour and stitch. Sometimes it's hard to have too many options because then you have to narrow it down. I nearly did a scallop edge, but since there was already so much pink in the pattern I was afraid of making it too girly or babyish.

Ultimately I'm very happy with the edging. I decided to echo the outline of the bow and do two-tone pink edging, but with a flat edge. Then I went around the whole edge again with crab stitch (also called reverse single crochet) and gave it a thicker edge. Since it's for a baby I wanted her to have an interesting texture on the edge since babies love textures. And I really want her to love this blanket.

Here's the final product. The only bad thing about making it for someone else is that as soon as it was done I had to give it away so I didn't get to stare at it very long, but I made sure to get some pictures.

I will definitely do c2c again, but maybe something smaller for the next project.
